Incentive. It's a powerful inspiration. In business, incentive travel can work wonders for employee morale and performance.
It's long been the conventional wisdom that positive reinforcement and rewards are surefire ways to bring out the best in people. A new study from Oxford Economics USA details just how true that truism can be. Among the comprehensive study's findings on incentive travel:
- More than 70 percent of both executives and employees rated incentive travel as having a highly positive impact on morale, job satisfaction, and job performance. In fact, employees are willing to work harder for rewards that are perceived as luxuries -- such as an incentive trip -- over cash or practical items, even though the reward may cost the company less.
- One incentive trip can have roughly the same effect on an employee as a compensation increase of 8.5 percent.
Those figures aren't merely impressive, they're vitally important to businesses looking for ways to recruit and retain qualified employees who produce results, while controlling costs and contributing to the U.S. economy in a meaningful way. The facts are clear: Incentive travel, whether as motivator or a reward, can offer a measureable return on investment for your clients as well as the country.
